Messages about nurturing those who have been victims of abuse appear on Blake4d's blog for the Day 667 entry, but what is a little different on this The 800 Days blog post is the idea that abusers also need nurturing.
What? Nurture those who are doing the abusing?
Yes, this is one of the messages I received, loud and clear, from Blake's post.
It's about more than the short term, "happening right now" abuse between abuser and victim... and more about the fact that abuse is a cycle. We aren't going to effectively deal with the abuse problem unless we make long-term plans to do so. Long term focus means looking at the past of abusers, finding out why they are abusive (learning that almost all of those who disrespect and abuse others are acting out or re-enacting some of the abuses that happened to them in the past), how the long-term cycle of abuse works in families and individuals.
Ultimately, abusers have problems - and they need to heal from being victims, themselves, heal from their past, come to terms with the abuses against them from their past - usually their childhood when they were helpless and victim of an abuser who went before them.
"Everyone who victimizes is trying to undo their own cycle." (Blake4d, 4th paragraph)
"We have to nurture some bad and really difficult people. After all, no matter what they did, they are part of the human family [...]" (Blake4d, 5th paragraph)
These statements occur early on in Blake's article and are followed with some bolder statements about why SOME people commit atrocious acts against other human beings... while I don't agree with all the later statements - rather, I think Blake has generalized on some concepts - the statements are blunt and will make a reader think about some heavy realities that are in our midst concerning abuse, murder, even evil.
Don't worry - though the article is packed with punch, it's not overly long. Perhaps Blake just wanted to stir up some concepts for us to think about so that we can start to imagine each our own part in doing something to end various cycles of abuse... Certainly, though Blake has given a broad solution (ie: "we need to nurture everyone, including the abusers") that is very sound, this solution is going to manifest in different ways for different people and the variety of actions people decide to engage in to nurture others will be diverse and complex.
For a lot of people, the "nurture the abusers" is an entirely new (and probably distasteful) concept, so it will take a long while for some people to engage in some kind of positive action involving nurturing. Some people are never going to come to terms with people who abuse others and will always think in the short term, never allowing themselves to humanize the abuser as someone who most likely had been a victim of another abuser in the past. I think that even THOSE WHO CANNOT SEE THE ABUSER AS A HUMAN BEING also need a great deal of nurturing.
In my opinion, even before the first slap, yell, punch or shove occurs between any two human beings, FIRST - the abuser dehumanizes the human being he/she is going to harm. The connection between "dehumanization of a human being" and the act(s) of abuse, to me, show that those who will not come to terms with those who abuse - are also committing abuse of a certain type...I am quite wary of those who refuse to see all human beings as human beings. Any sort of dehumanization is dangerous, in my opinion. Our jails in North America and around the world are full of people who live in a dehumanizing environment... there are numbers comparable to the size of entire cities inside secure walls with bars on windows - incarcerated - who have all been abused before they turned around and continued their cycle of abuse. And for all that, they receive no nurturing, no way to heal or come to terms with whatever happened in their earliest past that helped them turn into abusers themselves.
Please, someone, tell me that we, as human beings, can find a way to see the humanity in other human beings and stop viewing some of our human members as objects.
It's quite obvious that I agree very much with most of Blake's Day 667 post, isn't it? I wholeheartedly agree with the call to action about nurturing our brothers and sisters, both victims of abuse and abusers. I believe that until we can see others as human beings, we are, ourselves, capable of abusing others, all of us. If we can't see others as human beings and have dehumanized them in our minds, we have the potential to treat those people as objects and cause harm. For this reason alone, it is important for us to nurture others and view them as human beings - and we can each do some healing, ourselves, along the way.

Day 674 (Tidbits)
A post worthy of TWO THUMBS UP is on THE 800 DAYS blog. Blake's Day 674 entry is about achievements in art by those who suffer mental illness - in particular - the illness of schizophrenia.
To begin with, Blake makes mention of a personal friend, Troy Palmer, before going into details about Swiss artist Adolf Wolfli. In the Day 674 article, Blake mentions that Troy suggested an article about Adolf Wolfli, so by whatever means the words were brought to the blogosphere, enjoy both the videos that are posted (which features some art pieces of Wolfli, along with suitable music) - and the article Blake created to honour Art Brut/Outsider Art!
Art Brut is also known as Outsider Art and is basically material/expression brought forth by those not traditionally schooled in the arts at a formal academic/artistic institution. I OBJECT to the widespread use of the explanations/descriptors, "raw art" and "rough art," sometimes - even though "Art Brut" quite literally means "raw/rough art" and the phrase comes to us via French language. It depends entirely, for me, on who is using these terms as to whether or not I accept the use of said words. The term "Art Brut" was coined by Jean Dubuffet (1901-1985)
For me, raw/rough art can be used in a way that implies "not really art," but if the artist himself/herself uses the words and phrases to mean, "naturally occurring," "natural," or "unfettered by the frameworks of traditional schooling in the arts," as well as a humanistic, raw-authentic approach to the arts, I am quite fine with these terms.
Thanks to Troy for guiding Blake into focusing on a great topic and article. I won't elaborate on the artist as Blake has some nice information going on at The 800 Days blog. Do make sure to read comments at bottom of this article as Troy has posted some titles and such for reference or if you would like to look up/find some extras related to this topic.

Day 681 (Tidbits)
Lore of the Illuminati is the topic for Blake's Day 681 post on THE 800 DAYS weblog. I agree with some of Blake's opening words for the post, that, "[...] there is too much information out there on this subject to be ignored [,,,]" however I'd have warned more about CONFIRMATION BIAS in the opening words if it were my blog post...
The topic of The Illuminati is an absolutely HUGE one - as multi-faceted as the topic of The Bilderberg Group, but Blake promises to re-visit this topic in future days of posting to The 800 Days blog. I'm glad for these plans because there's no way the topic of The Illuminati can be decently covered in just one or two blog postings.
I love the quote Blake placed only about a third of the way into the post and I am posting it here, too:

Stop throwing the Constitution in my face!
It's just a goddamned piece of paper!
- George W. Bush
WOW... GEORGE!
I don't feel I should be adding or taking away from Blake's original post here so I'll turn my post into a short little critique and warning about Illuminati in pop-culture... while Blake goes on, within his blog post, to explain details about the Illuminati for those who might not know much about this group.
My critique is against pop-culture renditions of or perceptions of The Illuminati based on popular fiction such as the enormously successful Da Vinci Code by writer, Dan Brown.
Now Da Vinci Code is an outstanding piece of fiction - but it has MANY misleading details, the most dangerous of which happens to be its opening words which immediately make the claim that what follows in the book is largely fact - the historical locations, pieces of art, etc.
What the fictitious novel really is - is a whole bunch of historical accuracies mixed in with fiction to make confirmation biases and make a story flow... PERIOD.
One extremely AWESOME thing about Dan Brown's book, however, is that IT RAISES QUESTIONS on a number of topics - historical accuracy, Mary Magdelene, Jesus, Illuminati, Ancient Scholarship, etc. This is awesome - but the draw backs here are that a person pretty much has to take a fine-toothed comb through the entire book in order to sort the facts from fiction.
This is a process I am currently and actively plodding through with painstaking deliberateness.
Suffice it to say that if Da Vinci Code is your only reference source connected with what you know about The Illuminati, you will have a lot of learning to do. I'm sure you'll find Blake's post on the topic of Illuminati more along the side of fact than you will the pop-culture thriller novel Da Vinci Code by Mr. Brown.
I must say - I have enjoyed the Dan Brown book immensely and am about to attempt my third read-through of the novel at the end of March. Before I start re-reading, however, I am poring through some Apocrypha works just so I will be well acquainted with some Scriptures outside the Christian Canon which are referred to in the Da Vinci Code book.
I urge you to go read what Blake has written on the topic of The Illuminati - and take some time to have a really good look at all the images he has posted - they're very impressive, indeed! I am particularly taken with the last image on the blog post... the hand-pyramid and the eye within, including radiating lines that extend beyond the hands.

Day 688 (Tidbits)
We're treated to more information and details on/from The Red Skywalker, EDEN SKY, as the main topic for Blake's Day 688 entry on is THE 800 DAYS blog.
Eden Sky, on her Facebook profile, identifies herself with the following words
If THAT doesn't interest you... I don't know what will.
SynchroMystic definitely got my attention regarding Eden Sky's self-definition.
Synchronicity+Mysticism. Interesting combination, right? Synchronicity is an interesting concept. It is the experience of two or more events or happenings which are seemingly unrelated and are unlikely to occur together by pure chance...but the events DO happen together or turn out to have a meaningful correlation together, as far as they can be observed...
A SynchroMystic world view says that everything in existence is connected ie: symbols, events, everything contains layers of meaning and information, histories and multiple interpretations.
I just thought I would provide some information on SynchroMysticism - particularly Synchronicity - before readers head on over to THE 800 DAYS blog. Blake has a ton of biographical details on Eden Sky, so I don't want to confound readers by posting repeat data about Eden Sky, her work and studies.
One thing that deserves repeating, however, before the end of my post is a belief Eden Sky projects on a regular basis. This is the belief that, since everything/everyone is connected in this vast, amazing universe, we have effects on everything/everyone else, so we can create positive change - without a doubt...
All these naysayers and doomsayers, negative skeptics and such who think all mankind's past blunders and evil deeds cannot be corrected are, according to the way of thinking above - WRONG in this assumption and viewpoint.
According to Eden Sky and others who believe in everything-connections, we all have the ability to create positive change in the world.
Currently, our world is in a state of chaos - wars, environmental abuses, conflict between religious institutions and believers, etc. We can work toward a greater stability by becoming AGENTS OF CALM - and halting the chaos we dream up then enact in the world.
Have a look at the details Blake provides on Eden Sky and her beliefs over on THE 800 DAYS BLOG.

Day 695 (Tidbits)
If you've been wondering about what is at the core of the blogger personality and person of Blake Hall IV, then the Day 695 entry on THE 800 DAYS blog will give you a fair bit of insight. Of course, spirituality (what Blake chooses to write about in the entry) is just on facet of a human being - but if you've wondered, here's your chance to hear about some of Blake's personal experiences with spirituality.
In the Day 695 post, you may examine Blake's thoughts on Buddhism and - as always - interpret for yourself what Buddhism might mean to you.
Beyond the commentary about spirituality and Buddhism, further down in the post, Blake offers some artistic words in the piece called "What Could Be - And What Has Been."
What I like about this piece is that the narrator asks a number of questions at the beginning:
How can you save a person who doesn't want saving [my paraphrase, so as to refrain from taking away from Blake's own artistry and word structure]? Also - how do you save a person who is empty inside and nothing but a shell [my paraphrase]? How do you stop a train [my paraphrase] - how do you attempt to stop the inevitable [interpretation, mine]?
Now, from these questions, there are vastly different answers, each per person, according to worldview and personal belief system - however - Blake's version of how to process questions of this nature is clearly and artfully provided - just read through the "What Could Be And What Has Been" poetic piece.
Something I've noticed in almost all of Blake's writing is a definite balance that I like very much. This balance is in the concepts of "good/bad," "good/evil," and I find that Blake almost always has a Devil wherever he has a higher concept of "Good," "Holy," or higher cosmic forces. Here, the Devil arrives late in the poetry, within the last third of the content:
The three words above that provide an unmistakable mental image are "Devils jeers laughing[...]" and such a powerful mental image makes the Devil almost viewable, touchable.
Now, you can interpret the poetry any way you like - I just wanted to show a portion of the poem that struck a definite mental image and cue for me (above - it's actually a pic of a match stick holder/striker - creepy, lighting fire on the face of the Devil? Yikes!)... And I'll leave off now, so you can go interpret and enjoy Blake's brand of poetics!

Delusional comforts of HIS home, where you'll remain but just Exist...

Day 702 (Tidbits)
If the last post and topics about demons and exorcism were a bit too much for you, the next post should be an entertaining surprise! The Day 702 blog entry on THE 800 DAYS blog is quirky but FUN - with a little viral "get to know me" game or two on it!
Now, the word "discordianism" does come up on the Day 702 post, and brief explanations of some aims of Discordianism, Chaos Magick and Anarchists are provided, but only to provide clarity as to why a list-game is being posted, keeping these belief systems in mind.
Okay, basically what these games are is an attempt to make something possibly meaningful out of chaos, and the tools for righting chaos are the lists and music/song titles...
In the first example, you're asked to go completely random, answering the list questions from the way your music plays on your player (mp3 player, iPod, whatever you listen to tunes on). In the second example, answer the list questions from song titles of your favourite or one of your favourite bands.
Blake used The Chemical Brothers for the second list - with some funny but also some thought-provoking results! In the first instance, the list is even more random but Blake's particular results from the first viral list are, again, thought - provoking.
Head over to the Day 702 post and have a go at the viral lists. If you end up with some really interesting results you'd like to share, email them and I can post some of the results on the blog!

Day 709 (Tidbits)
It's all about TROY PALMER on Blake's blog for the day associated with 1:11:11! This is Troy's Birthday date in the year 2011, and TROY is a friend of Blake's, as well as a contributor in THE 800 DAYS effort to inform people about all things that might just WAKE US UP and awaken our consciousness before the Mayan Calendar ends December 21, 2012.
The Day 709 post on THE 800 DAYS blog explains Troy's involvement in The 800 DAYS (Countdown) Project as well as some tidbits on Blake and Troy's relationship - which is artsy AND MUSICAL...
Yes, you read that right... Blake and Troy play music together, discuss/perform and engage in the arts. Yep, our Blake is a poet, artist AND musician...
I have to say I am "WOW-ed out" by the r/l photos on Blake's post, and I admit I have to get him into an online chat to get some more details about his relationship with Troy and Blake's own additional "artsy" stuff before I comment much further about bands, Troy, Blake's musical interests and participation in the same (remember that I am in Canada, Blake's in the U.S.A., so we're working together at a distance...there are new things I am learning about Blake every day!)...
With that, I leave off so readers can go view some cool photos of Blake, Troy and friends/musical associates. In addition to this post, I'm also drafting more bio info on Troy to place on the "People" page since I just found out that Troy has been quite involved on Blake's end - with discussing content and such for The 800 Days Project! Look for the bio information to be placed on the PEOPLE tab above within a day or two...
The Day 709 post is about HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TROY PALMER (next year, I won't be late with birthday wishes), and is associated with Tuesday January 11 2011.
P.S.
a confession: I am falling behind in posting as of Blake's Jan 11/Troy Palmer entry as I stalled off in writing this particular entry on the Follower blog - in the hopes that I could track Blake down for a little interview to discuss his admiration and respect for Mr. Palmer (prior to posting Bio info on the People page, as well)... however, on my end, I did not manage to get online at the appropriate times to text around with Blake -- MY BAD... Wrong choice in order of events... and I'm back on track, getting updated with bio info to follow...

Day 716 (Tidbits)
I don't know about other readers, but I like the music vids that Blake posts. Sometimes I wonder how much he sits and listens to the various artists like have been featured in posts thus far but since I'm in Canada and he's in America, I think it's kind of cool to imagine getting to know Blake just a little bit across the distance by catching on to the music he selects and listens to.
I'm pretty geeky and have my head in books and online texts quite a bit - so much so that I forget to turn on the radio these days lol Needless to say, I'm pretty out of touch with what anyone is listening to. Catching an earful of music from the the vids Blake posts seems to be allowing me to get in touch with the fact that all my music is out of date and people aren't still listening to the tunes I have favoured over the past while.
I'll catch up with musical tastes... maybe. I'll keep listening and try to, anyway. I like the "Lovesick Teenagers" tune featured on Blake's Day 716 entry over on THE 800 DAYS blog.
As far as the content on the most recent post, Blake has reminded people about some suggestions I made a while back for people who would like to support and follow the efforts being made to inform people on various topics via THE 800 DAYS blog and this "Follower" blog. Although I get feedback from time to time on various social networking sites and know that quite a few people are reading and supporting these efforts, I still think a lot of people generally read this content and then are shy about responding. Hopefully, the Day 716 post will prompt people to jump into discussions and we can start sharing info, opinions, sometimes laughs... occassionally some cathartic moments of sadness that are best shared, too, from time to time.
Anyway - if you just started reading from these blogs and want to know what the heck everything is about, want to know how to follow the content, the entire 800 Days Countdown and such, head over to Blake's blog and see what's there - including why on Earth we started doing this in the first place!

Day 723 (Tidbits)
Okay, so now there could be problems...
After reading the Day 723 content over on THE 800 DAYS BLOG, I find I actually disagree with the words... what's worse is, I haven't much of a leg to stand on because I'm arguing with poetry lol.
Damn, why does Blake have to write so much darned poetry all the time?
(I'll get back to this later - soon)
I do not, however, disagree with two versions (2 vids, different versions of the same tune) of Stairway To Heaven presented on the entry! WAAAAY COOL - the 2nd offering is with "Gregorian" vocalists! Nice.
Okay back to the disagreement stuff. Warning: I won't "win" this argument, it's not possible.
1. Poetry (according to mythbuster and not less than a few hundred THOUSAND others who study poetry) expression is more powerful and lasting than my argument can be, partly because it is a form for expression and, well, things must be expressed freely in order to facilitate commucation, messages, understanding and SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS... the poet, of course, begins the interaction and, as such, has the most rights in a disagreement. Besides after both the poet and dissenter are gone, the poetry still stands 'cos it was sent out into the world.
My interpretation (the reader) and reaction to the words/mood is always in relation to the first standing words... Poetry and words of the poet have the right to exist more than I have the ability to solidly disagree with the words.
Added point: the only right and priviledge that I have that the poet may NOT take away from me is - my interpretation of the work. The poet loses the right to be perfectly understood as soon as he/she issues the words, in any form (Michel Foucault's theories on poetry/language and social interactions, which I adhere to). A poet may only say what he/she intended but must not interfere with how another mind interprets... Fortunately for Blake, unfortunately for me, the poem says what it says.
Still, there is always truth in poetry...which trumps my reaction to it AND my opinion of it will always be a side-effect of the poetry while the poetry is what it is...
I've been asked a question for the past 5 years and received the same accompanying comments along with the question: Why don't you write more poetry? Your prose is often poetic, so why not just write poetry?
Answer: (short) cos' I'm a control freak lol !!!
Long answer - I want my words interpreted how I mean them and, although I love poetry, study it, use it, I am intimidated by both the power of it and the fact that once I issue it forth, it is not mine anymore. With this in mind, I'll have to say that Blake is braver and more open than I, I suppose... I am, however, still learning to interact with poetry in a more open way... I believe that once I gain clarity in my writings and am satisfied with this aspect in writing, I will feel more comfortable writing poetry and not feel I have to have so much control).
Now where was I?
Ohyeah - the exact issue of disagreement
2. What the words say to me:
"to never apologize for the burning of books." This hits a raw nerve with me as I am a collector of words (narrative, urban legends, witnessing/accounts of abuse and distress (as a mentor), Native story circles, etc) and I am part Native (Cree). Words are sacred to me (as they are, too - obviously - with Blake). The nerve part is probably that I am part Cree and understand a great deal about entire cultural references - including words - that have been obliterated, unrecoverable - from Cree culture and other Natives.
I'm probably having a hissy fit over just that one line - in fact it is just that one line that I abhor!
PROOF of the power of poetry.
I just wanted to stop and make the hissy fit as an explanation of the power of poetry because I feel that poetry is so often misunderstood as an art, as a vehicle for important statements, as a political vehicle for expression of ideas and emotions, and more. Poetry is so much more powerful and sacred than the average person knows or learns...in fact, "The Arts" are often (ie: book burning) attacked due to peoples' fear of their power.
I'm done my hissy fit and almost done my rant and will now jump over that one line that stirred so much (dare I say) aggression, discomfort and disagreement for me.
The poem, Burning Books , link supplied so you can have a look.
I do understand that the narrator of Blake's poem - whether that is intended to be Blake himself or the anonymous, unknown voice of the poem's speaker - is providing a possible viewpoint that says something like, "you likely couldn't read all those books that were burned, anyway" and "many were filled with lies, anyway" and those are also true statements...
However, in my experience, the act of burning books is a violation against humanity - not just the group/author of the books whose books are burned. It eliminates a fundamental human process - that of the experience of critical thinking and decision-making about what is or is not truth. The violation is an opportunity violently stolen away from every generation, past, present and future...with no opportunity of negotiation on this act. A book burned eliminates the past, robs the present generation of a truth or non-truth which must be sorted through, and obviously robs the future generations of the truth and non-truth, as well.
Strangely enough, this post has been a little exercise in working through the emotions that poetry stirs up and I find that writing it all out has provided a release for the original disagreement/anger-reaction I first had many moments ago...
I knew this would be an exercise as I began reviewing the Day 723 post - and whether this looks strange to most or not, I hope this writing shows the power of poetry. In the end, right about now... by having addressed the issue I had with the content (even just one line) this process has had a cathartic effect on me (Aristotle said this catharsis brought about via the arts is of tantamount importance to human beings, relationships, community, etc) and I am accepting of even the problematic line as I near the close of this post.
Originally, in my anger, I wished to bolt from the computer - come back and finish posting later. I felt this would not have been an honest action, nor helpful (conflict is difficult for me to deal with, particularly cerebral dissonance... I couldn't sit with liking Blake but, originally, hating one line of text that came from Blake) in my daily routine today - So I resolved to work through this problem.
As you might have guessed - the problem was never a "wrong" in the poetry - it was within my triggers, belief system, within myself - but the presence of poetry can be cathartic, mind-opening (my anger closed my mind and shut down critical thinking at the start of this post)...and extremely valuable and therapeutic for people - IF - they run through the entire process of running through the arguments on why they feel the way they do instead of bolting (like I felt like doing, initially).
The Day 723 post has been a cool exercise in humility, brought to you by the funny monkey above and is associated with The 800 Day blog and the date of Tuesday December 28 2010.

Day 730 (Tidbits)
If you haven't been feeling the Christmas or Solstice energy yet this winter season, sit your busy self down and enjoy the music offering via Day 730 at Blake Hall's THE 800 DAYS Blog. Four and a half minutes of Gregorian and Vangelis ought to steady you right up for the holidays and get you in a level headed way.
Right below the video/music clip is a fantastic geometric image - images within images - that is fitting to go along with the youtube stuff...
Blake kept this post simple and so I will follow suit here.
Enjoy the tunage, image - and relaxxxxxxxxx.... you'll also have ample time while the music plays - to read through the bit of inspiring text/quote that accompanies the image and music.
I'll get the vid posted on the follower vid/audio tab soon - just in case you want to return somewhere and listen again...
The simplistic but effective Day 730 post is associated with Tuesday December 21 2010.
P.S.
On Tuesday December 21 2010, Blake Hall wrote the Day 730 blog post just prior to a lunar eclipse. His post is pre-eclipse - and as I catch up in content, my post is post-eclipse. I was able to view the eclipse for over half an hour but right at the time we were told, in my region of the world, that we'd be able to see a rosy hue, sudden cloud cover occurred in the sky and the entire eclipse was hidden for a while... What I did see of the eclipse was awesome...
Did anyone else view the eclipse?

Day 737 (Tidbits)
Although this month (December) is primarily enhanced by mainly Christian-themes (Birth of Jesus, Christmas celebrations), Blake hasn't forgotten our Pagan friends (and enemies). The Day 737 entry on Blake Hall's THE 800 DAYS BLOG is sort of a treat for Pagans with some music, a message regarding the Winter Solstice from Eden Sky, and some information on Pagan Yultide/Christmas Ritual.
Eden's Message found here: Solstice Synch Details from Eden Sky
Mr. Hall offers some information and tips on creating celebration rituals to observe important concepts and events - and if his guidance isn't quite enough for you, he has graciously also offered links to some respectable major Pagan websites which also provide information on rituals, Pagan principles and benevolent guidance for those interested in Pagan things.
Within the Day 737 post are a number of ideas by Blake - it reads like a list - for incorporating Pagan ritual into your life and home during the festive season (and beyond). You don't have to do EVERYTHING on the list but there certainly are enough suggestions to satisfy virtually anyone interested in Pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice time of year.
My favourite of the suggestions is the last one on the list: Plant a living tree. I don't have room for this tree that is suggested but am planning a ritual and variation on this idea. I'm going to plant SOMETHING indoors - something that is useful for smudging and teas. The smoke (Cree/Blackfoot culture) is an offering of prayer, energy and spirit unto the world once the plant is mature enough to use for smudge material. The leaves/stems can be given back to the earth after tea is made...and the plant will offer beneficial oxygen and positive energy within my indoor environment and to friends and family who visit my home.
But enough of my intentions... back to the Day 737 post!
I'm posting this review of the entry/blog well after Christmas celebrations are over, so the rest of the information on the post is going to be useful to me NEXT YEAR around this time of year. The information offered is about making GIFTS, making homemade mainly natural items for gift-giving. I will be sure to take better care with my health next season so I don't become ill like I did this year. This will spare me some time for creating some homemade gifts.
One thing I won't need to wait nearly a year for is suggestion number FIVE (5): keeping a Book Of Shadows. I got out of this practice and discipline a couple of years ago and greatly miss it. Luckily for me, I have been thinking of creating a BOS for a little while and have been gathering materials in order to fully create my own book/journal that is handmade and specifically my own. I learned a bit about book binding in a University class, and have experimented a time or two with my own handmade journals. I had one book project marked as an A+ which had 3 sections and a tie-down for the most private notes I made (I had problems as a kid with a trusted adult reading and damaging my personal journal and violating my trust in him, so I LIKE privacy with my journal). I'm sure I can repeat the process and item WITH IMPROVEMENTS.
The Day 737 post has prompted my memory to GET ON THIS sooner than later, so - HEY THANKS BLAKE!
Blessed Be - I must go and assess my book-making materials (while also dashing between posts to catch up with Blake's blog entries)...

Day 744 (Tidbits)
WOW...the post for Day 744 on the frickin' THE 800 DAYS blog is just far too top secret and important for me to comment about on my blog this time.
I know most of Blake's posts are met with my commentary, but honestly... I can't top what's on THE 800 DAYS blog for the Day 744 post.
GO SEE: DAY 744 of 800 DAYS
Day 744 is associated with a couple of wacky pics and Tuesday December 7 2010.

Day 751 (Tidbits)
Are you ready for "cinematic thought bombs" and stretching your mind around the concept of audio tracks laid down onto, into and within the "imaginary canvas of sound"??? If so then you're ready for Blake Hall's Day 751 music review and commentary post on THE 800 DAYS blog!
As Blake describes the nature of the artists, Ciscandra Nostalghia and Roy Gnan, the duo presented here as "Nostalghia," and whose song/audio, "I Am Robot Hear Me Glitch" is featured on the Day 751 post, be assured that if you hit the "play" button and thoroughly enjoy the audio creation, the song will LOOP so that you can listen to it more than once! (I'm on play #3, very much enjoying the track).
AND THEN...while you're letting Nostalghia's music fill the room, continue on to consider some things not of this planet, as Blake guides the content to Mars Rover photos and other things Blake has been looking at from the NASA website...
* Note... as I look at the photos with I Am Robot Hear Me Glitch in the periphery, the music sets a nearly bittersweet tone for me... it's mellow and pleasant enough but carries with it a definite air of sadness, so that when I also view the photos, this causes me to see the images as eerie, surreal. I'm sure there is pareidolia occurring - the phenomena whereby the brain guesses and concludes that some images we see that are unfamiliar do have a familiar cast or shape to them.
The brain doesn't like "the unfamiliar" so it attempts to send us "valid explanations" when we view something like the Mars rover photos... we know the pics aren't of things on Earth but our only frame of reference is about how things look here on Earth. Therefore, when we see something that might vaguely match or appear visually like something we'd see on Earth, our brain just says "make the same connection, accept this same explanation and move on..."
The only thing is... those pics are of another planet where there haven't been any confirmed sightings or any other data to prove that anything living exists way over there...
Okay, so as I view more of the photos and scroll down... now wait a minute - the pics really look like they're showing something with a humanoid shape. It could be pareidolia or it could be that--
I've gotta go concentrate on these photos...
The Day 751 post on The 800 Days blog is for the date of Tuesday November 30 2010.

Day 758 (Tidbits)
Blake brings readers some tidbits on "The Arts" for the Day 758 post on the 800 DAYS! Now since I am not very familiar with the particular individuals Blake writes about for this post, I'm just going to send you over and say, in no uncertain terms, "Read What Blake Has To Say on William S. Burroughs!"
Article: Ah Pook Is Here by William S. Burroughs...The Lost Graphic Novel by a Master of Modern Literature.
What I DO "GET" about Burroughs is that he is reportedly the first or at least one of the first to take the topic of "23 Enigma" seriously - and "way out there." We've already viewed a post from the 800 Days blog about 23 Enigma, found here: (Day 789, Follower blog) and here: (Day 789, THE 800 Days, Blake's blog). Also, a prominent actor, Jim Carrey (as Walter Sparrow), was in a film made in 2007 called "The Number 23" that was all about the topic of 23 Enigma.
I watched the film with Carrey in it - just a few minutes ago... and will review the film (it's WORTH SEEING) in an upcoming blog post once I've caught up a little bit with Blake's posts on The 800 Days blog.
After just a little digging on Burroughs, I found that details in his biography are less than shining and that Burroughs lived a questionable lifestyle, suffered from addictions and all sorts of mayhem in his life - however - one thing that seems close to unanimous is that he put out some worthy works, even if many of these were controversial and, in his time, harshly criticized...
One little tidbit I found that was interesting is that Burroughs is on the Sgt. Pepper's (Beatles) Album cover:
Burroughs is in the 2nd row (start at the top) between a likeness of Marilyn Monroe (actress) and Sri Mahavatar Babaji (Hindu guru). To look at a larger and interactive image with better resolution than I am able to get here, please see link below:

Day 765 (Tidbits)
Getting back to "tidbits" and review type posting on the follower blog here. Now I know I am behind, 'cos I typically stay a few days behind Blake's posted material, and in doing so I am a little off on celebration days. I think of it this way - I learn as I go so although I was aware of certain celebrations, writing about them a few days off keeps me in mind of them for longer and I don't see that as a negative!
A celebrated topic/observance on THE 800 DAYS BLOG for the Day 765 post on Tuesday November 16 2010, was "Eid Al-Adha."
Eid Al-Adha isn't something that I personally have celebrated in the past but is something I have become more interested in just in the past few years. Eid Al-Adha is a Muslim religious holiday and festival whereby Muslims celebrate Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Ishmael, his son, as an act of obedience to God. Now, God intervened, according to traditions, legend and myth - and provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice instead of doing so with Ishmael, so this holiday and festival is known also as the "Festival of Sacrifice" or the "Greater Eid."
As stated earlier and above, this isn't a festival I have been familiar with celebrating in my personal life. Luckily, I have learned more about this festival via contact with Blake, his writings and through searching around online to learn about Muslim traditions. Even though I do not identify primarily as a Muslim, myself, I believe that any culture's or peoples' traditional days have importance in the world...a belief I have only picked up in the past few years - so I think it is an act of reverence to start learning about things another culture's people feel are of tantamount and religious importance. I will be taking more care in years to come from this year forward - and start to honour other days/festivals that are important even if I do not adhere to all unfamiliar traditions outside of my own belief system.
I am learning that we can only "other" people, place prejudices against, act out against other people if we continue to ignore their ways and beliefs and then oppress these beliefs and people. We may not always be able to adhere to every belief foreign to our upbringing but I can't imagine it can be wrong to learn more or honour the beliefs of another culture... so I will not be missing Eid Al-Adha anymore in the future. Thankfully, Blake has placed the explanation on how the days of Eid Al-Adha are determined with Muslims and also has next year's days of celebration posted on the Day 765 entry on the 800 Days blog.
A quote - for the purpose of displaying the days:
Naturally, because there are quite rigid rules surrounding days of reverence for Muslims during Eid Al-Adha, I cannot participate fully - but I will make special prayers in my own faith during the next Eid Al-Adha which will contain wishes that others honour the elaborate, reverent celebration of the Muslims regardless of affiliation with other religions and cultures. For example, according to Muslim traditions, I would not be allowed to be in a position during Eid Al-Adha to "sacrifice" a ram or acceptable sacrificial animal - because I am not Muslim myself. I believe, however, that doing special cleansing rituals on the same days that Muslims celebrate Eid Al-Adha will not be looked upon poorly by anyone and cleansing rituals would put me in mind to be respectful of other cultures, even if I am not Muslim and even if I cannot quickly adopt or learn all about every Muslim point of belief or tradition.
What I have found very interesting and awesome about the Muslim celebrations is the great intricacy of ritual involved with Eid Al-Adha. When involved in these days of reverence, it must be that great care and mindfulness is employed for many hours of the day and for several days on end... this attention to personal relationships with God/Allah, to human relationships with the Earth and on humans together with humans should be more widely known and accepted in my opinion. These considerations are what I intend to project and experience next November! Until then, I will be learning more about the Muslim traditions.
Be sure to visit Blake's descriptions, article and details about Eid Al-Adha as I have in no way provided extensive explanations - only my belief here - that I ought to learn more about these Muslim days of reverence. There are a few things from Blake's article that I will have to get committed to memory so that I understand Eid Al-Adha better for next year.
Article: Eid Al-Adha the Festival of Sacrifice
The Day 765 post is associated with Tuesday November 16, 2010.
Allahu Akbar ("God is the Greatest," or "God is Great.")
- And the year 1433 (Islamic Calendar): October 26 - 28 , 2012"
Day 772 (Tidbits)
If you've been reading and have been wondering a lot about the person who launched this project... Here's your chance to know a little more about Blake Hall. It is a very personal post as far as content goes is on THE 800 DAYS blog for the date of Tuesday November 9, 2010 as the Day 772 posting.
I'll not provide too much commentary here as the content for Day 772 is too personal, in my opinion, and should be left in Blake's own words.
I'm just here to say, "Hey, I'm following... keep leading."
And
"R.I.P. Joe Mattingly and Robert Hall, Blake4d's biological father and first step-father, respectively."

Day 779 (Tidbits)
Okay, I have to admit... Day 779 on The 800 Days blog has caught me off guard... Plainly speaking, the information on this post for Day 779 actually freaks me right out!
Artificial Intelligence is the main topic here and, well... I've had enough of a problem with human intelligence going awry, according to our history books... the idea of robots and similarly "intelligent" machines is something that makes my blood run cold and sends prickly shivers up and down my spine.
Sure - some say I've watched too many spooky movies, read too many strange and scary tales. I probably have. But even after a good, full night's sleep and in the middle of the daylight hours, the topic and possibility of artificial intelligence frightens me a great deal.
Partly, it's because I have observed "machines" in our day and age... and the overuse of and the human reliance on these same machines. With some machines doing "work" and "tasks" that human beings used to do, we've inadvertently allowed many healthy human activities to fade away.
ie: microwave ovens can now defrost and cook our food - and also tell us the time and be used as alarm clocks. Our way of cooking has forever changed with the invention of and use of microwave ovens... Gone are the healthy activities of many kinds of food preparation - sometimes tasks done with multiple members of the family. Instead of families preparing a meal together - now one only has to go to the freezer in the kitchen, take out a packaged meal, pop it in the microwave - then sit down and eat it after the microwave oven beeps. No real food handling is necessary (will we forget what the food looks like while in its unprepared state?), no food "prep" is necessary (how many more generations or years before we forget how to safely use a knife to cut a carrot? Or how to do the simple task of shucking corn?), and worst of all... "community" decisions/family decision making (what should be on the menu?) and practice with compromising is almost not necessary anymore. And those are the details of just one extremely (almost universal) item found in most modern homes... There are computers, besides... and washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, home security systems (have we forgotten how to be good neighbors? so much that we must lock the whole world OUT?), video games and cell phones and more...
Are we forgetting how to have conversations? It's easier and quicker to text a friend these days than to pick up the landline phone, dial a number and have a conversation.
Whoops, but now I'm really side-tracking away from the content on The 800 days blog.
Mind you - there is more of the same in topics on the Day 779 post... where the content turns attention toward cell phones, the sci-fi novel "I Robot" by Isaac Asimov, South Korean "robotic laws," and tech gadgets or "tech-toys." As well, the concept that robotics will be used to replace humans for the tasks of warfare... Hmmm
I'd better let Blake do the explaining on these items...

Day 786 (Tidbits)
Be prepared to be at least a little uncomfortable for the Day 786 on the 800 Days blog. A new and unsolved mystery has been unfolding since summer 2010 that is not pleasant to think about but - regardless - requires some attention...
In Florida, USA, there have been numerous animal decapitations reported but no culprits to these crimes have been found. Naturally, some people are blaming "Satanists" and people involved in occult practices but this kind of finger-pointing might be all too simple, in my humble opinion. To my knowledge, even occult practitioners respect life - even the lives of animals - and the blame for these crimes shouldn't be pushed onto an occult community or any other community just as a matter of creating a group to blame... obviously this kind of finger-pointing will never turn out any proper results when the main issue left is, "Who/What is causing all these animal decapitations?"
Violence against ordinary domestic pets is on the rise - as well as decapitated black panthers and other exotic or non-domestic animal deaths, all of a violent nature. A mid-September 2010 incident is recent and the latest reported unexplained violence against an animal...a law enforcement official was called to an incident in Hernando Country, Florida... what he found was the head of a decapitated cat. The head (from a black cat) was on Salome Street near Brooksville Florida.
The Article: Decapitated Animals a Florida Mystery
An animal lover, myself, this news is very disturbing to me. Out of respect for what has unfairly happened to a number of animal kind creatures, I made sure to read everything presented. Perhaps someone else will read about these incidents and be able to piece some details together and figure out what's going on in Florida with these gruesome animal mutilations/deaths. Now I know I've heard some news reports that a teen was apprehended and is known to be responsible for some of the deaths and mutilations of domestic cats but even if this explains most of the incidents, how can we explain the seemingly rising violence present in our society? How can we explain that now teens are committing atrocious crimes like mutilating animals?

Day 793 (Tidbits)
Don't let the short poetry bits fool you on The 800 Days blog for Day 793. You're going to see some rather pretty words at the top of the page but get ready to put your thinking cap on because not everything is "artsy" about the Day 793 material!
We were recently introduced to the topic of Magick on the 800 days blog, and Blake wastes no time at all with getting into some theories about exactly WHO might be using Magick in our day and age - also, some theories about WHY Magick is used by some powerful entities in our world, both past and present.
Please DO enjoy the poetry first before you go clicking around into the Magick related articles. One awesome thing about POETRY is that... there's a pleasant structure to poetry that can sometimes get the right and left sides of the brain working together. Basically, reading some poetry before launching into an intense article should help you to think, using both sides of your brain (connecting emotional right brain stuff to logical left brain stuff, at least marginally) instead of just launching into a text based article mainly using only your left hemisphere for thinking.
Poems offered in the Day 793 post:
...by Blake4d.
Get ready for some really interesting concepts in the non-poetry bits on Day 793. There is more talk about Magick in this post and more than a few points are made about governments around the globe understanding that Magick exists in the world. There are definite claims that the government actually uses Magick on the people...an idea I don't find very hard to believe at all - however - you'll have to read and decide for yourself!
Either head to The Day 793 Post right away

Let me know which parts you find interesting...

IT AINT OVER TIL ITS OVER - Day 800 and Counting Down
Blake offers a nice poem for our perusal to launch the countdown to December 21, 2012...
Poem: "It Ain't Over 'Till It's Over" by Blake4d.
Original Post Featuring The Poem (by Blake4d): (day) 800 and Counting Down on the 800Days Blog.
(my interpretation/explication of) It Ain't Over 'Till It's Over:
Blake has offered this poem in two line pairs, 4 concepts overall, whereby the 2nd line (lines 2, 4, 8) of the pair acts as commentary for the 1st lines (lines 1, 3, 7) or concept lines. An interesting thing happens in the 3rd line-set (lines 3 and 4 only), whereby Blake questions the reader... then returns back to the statement and commentary format.
ie:
Line 1: (Concept) "Nothing is written in stone" (concept, permanence)
Line 2: (Response statement) "Something that may not happen"
Line 3: (Concept) "Nothing is inverse and inevitable" (concept, helplessness within inevibility)
Line 4: (Response statement) "Something is waiting for us every day"
Line 5: (Question) "So why is everyone waiting on Doomsday" [?] (DOOMsday)
Line 6: (Question) "What reason do we need to make darkness day" [?] (darkness)
Line 7: (Concept) "As time is spent watching over your shoulder" (concept, fear and apprehension)
Line 8: (Response statement) "Remember this it ain't over 'till it's over"
Moreso, the responses are HOPEFUL responses to disturbing concepts...
Line 1 concept (permanence, futility of making changes)
Line 3 concept (inevibility, building upon permanence)
Line 7 concept (fear, "watching over your shoulder" the result of buying into the permanence, powerlessness, features of "the inevitable" that make us powerless)
Overall... I very much appreciate the responses because they are ultimately HOPEFUL...
It's Definitely NOT OVER 'Til it's OVER!
