Day 668 (Tidbits)

WHOOP WHOOP It's AC/DC APPRECIATION DAY!

That's what I am calling the content - including MEDIA - on the Day 668 post found on Blake's The 800 Days blog.

No review needed for the top portion of the Day 668 post - just TWO THUMBS UP from me and readers can go ahead and hit the PLAY button on the AC/DC vids Blake has embedded in the blog.

While you enjoy the vids, make your way further down the page and see who Blake is giving some space-love (exposure on the blog) to...

It's Blake's friend, Rothlyn Giles! Rothlyn is a computer guy who has offered some very detailed walkthrough instructions designed to help Windows users clean up then keep their Windows operating system environment healthy and secure. The article from Rothlyn Giles, over on Blake's blog - explains such things as:

Partitions/partitioning
Organizing files
Data safeguarding
Boosting the performance of your computer
a bunch of stuff I can't explain
but is explained by Rothlyn over on the Day 668 post!

I'm not quite confident yet with following all of Rothlyn's walkthrough but am going to go right away and start a defrag as Step 1 of making my computer perform better.

WHOOP! Imagine how much better those AC/DC videos are going to play after I have my computer defragged, eh?

Day 675

More content featured by Blake's "Comrade in Arts," the talented bibi16 for the Day 675 entry on THE 800 DAYS blog!

Selections by bibi16:

  • "Artificial Intelligence or Ten Ways Not to Communicate with Other Human Beings" [doesn't just the TITLE say a whole bunch here, already?]
  • "When Taking Pictures In Public Places"
I think the 10 points in the first article should be posted ANYWHERE that language is used... which means "posted pretty much everywhere"! In libraries, schools, coffee shops, stores, community hall bulletin boards, etc... In my opinion, if people adhered to the suggestions bibi16 offers, communications between people would be less confusing, more open and straightforward - and people would be able to understand each other as well as respect each other much more than we do at present. As well, since some of the points in bibi16's article are about considering the written word/languages we speak, I think if people acted upon the information in the article, many would decide to learn written language better, too.

bibi16's second article featured in the post gives some information on what is permissible and not permitted when people are taking photos with cameras, cell phones, etc. I didn't know some of the things in this article before - like that if you're on private property you can be asked/told to stop taking photos but that your cell phone/camera is not supposed to be taken away from you. Luckily, I don't use my cell phone camera that much or do not use it often in any location without asking people if they mind...but for those who love using their phone-cam, bibi16's article is a good read providing important information.

The Day 675 post on The 800 Days blog features bibi16 again and is associated with Monday February 14 2011.

Oh and for those who celebrate - it's Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day.

Day 682 (Tidbits)

Can U say B-I-L-D-E-R-B-E-R-G-S?

Blake can - and does... he says a LOT about the Bilderberg Group over on THE 800 DAYS blog for the Day 682 post.

I find the topic of the Bilderbergs fascinating but there's so much to unravel, connected with this group of elite individuals that I often find myself distracted and going off on tangents when I attempt to study about The Bilgerbergs. There are oh, so many elites involved in this group, each with significant histories and biographical details. *Note, the Bilderbergs or Bilderbergers or Bilderberg group isn't a family name or connection - they're called such because at their first major meeting, they assembled at The Hotel de Bilderberg in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

It was a closed meeting of elites back in 1954 and has become an annual occurrence (by invitation only) ever since - with outsiders being able to garner very little information about what goes on inside the meetings. Hotel de Bilderberg in Amsterdam is not always the location for the meetings anymore but the meetings have been going on annually for almost 60 years now!

Blake has a few interesting images up on the Day 682 post, including a chart of "The Round Table" that many conspiracy theories hold close in mind each time Bilderberg meeting members and the elite are mentioned. The Round Table shows how many elite entities such as The Bilderberg group, United Nations, The Trilateral Commission and more might be connected in a giant, connected larger entity...

Interesting stuff - but watch for confirmation biases, please, whenever dealing with Conspiracy Theories.

It may be that questions arising from meetings that seem strange, conspiratorial, etc., are more important than solid conclusions at this point... we really don't know what the Bilderbergers discuss - it's best not to jump to final conclusions yet, eh?

The Day 682 post is associated with a whole bunch of elites and Monday February 7 2011.

Day 689 (Tidbits)

Time for a return to our thinking caps for Blake's Day 689 on what is becoming a very content-filled, art-filled, poetry-filled, commentary-filled THE 800 DAYS blog!

What you'll find for the Day 689 post are two complementary pieces of poetry. The title of one - "Quetzecoatl" - will conjure up images and concepts to your mind from an ancient age. The title of the other - "War Party - A Poem To Bring Our Troops Back Home Where They Belong" may allow you to stay firmly grounded to the present, but regardless, the pieces aren't drastically opposing to each other.

Each poem has a meaning and urgency in its own right, however, the "War Party [...]" poem seems to display a whole lot of repetition - and this poem is of greater length, so the feel of it is that it is of a more urgent tone than the Quetzocoatl piece. I think the Quetzocoatl poem may just be more condensed, is all, and both poems require focus and attention.

My favourite lines of Quetzecoatl:

There were strange days upon me and my body and race
I can hear, as I'm fighting, as I take up the bottle
I am drinking it down with my Quetzecoatl...

[lines 6, 7, 8 above, balanced with lines 28-31 below]

Asking a deep sleepwalker in the waiting abyss
To remit, and the Father will not question your fear
As the dreams come out of the little glass bottles
Making my choice just like Quetzecoatl...

My favourite lines of the 2nd poem:

Before we're going through something
That's so much worse than any of it was before as
If you are pledging allegiance to the war
It feels just like it did before once more
Underground and overboard it feels just like before
You are actually giving something that isn't yours
You are actually giving something that isn't yours

[lines 26-32 in one consecutive line block]

I appreciate the attention to balance in the first poem while I found something different to appreciate in the longer poem - repetition. I supposed the first poem is written with limited wording so its lines make each message more clear, while the longer 2nd poem has length for repetition. I found in the latter, the repetition has the effect of reminding one of bullets fired over and over again - repetitive military movement - calisthenics, even repetitive words such as are used with brainwashing...

In the first piece, there is something about the bottle mentioned, then returned to (balance) that adds to the sublime quality of the piece. In the second poem, sublimity is enhanced by the repetition of forceful words - words clearly understood the first time they were read but repeated nonetheless 'til we're almost dizzy with the repetition (perhaps Blake is trying to brainwash us! lol). For the first poem, we're taken into sublimity with the hint of what's in that bottle...for the second piece, we're brought to sublimity by having our senses assaulted - apt title on that 2nd piece with the word "War" in it...

Interesting...

I'll let others interpret from here...

Day 696 (Tidbits)

Wow, there's a GIANT horoscope chart on Day 696 of Blake's THE 800 DAYS blog! And it's one I've never seen before, apparently found and forwarded by Blake's friend named "TOMCAT."

To be able to get a better look at an enlarged image, I right-clicked to open the larger image in a new window. You can go straight to the larger image with the link below:

Large Image, "Horoscoped - Most common words in star sign predictions."

As Blake also suggests in his Day 696 post, go to the site where this came from 'cos the image is complicated - the procedure for gaining most common words in star sign predictions and also the reason for doing so is located at:

http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/2011/horoscoped/

Day 703 (Tidbits)

I don't know what the bulk of readers think about things like exorcism but I, for one, find it a fascinating topic for discussion. Blake introduces an interesting article, "American Exorcists in Demand," about the Catholic Church seeking people to train and learn to perform the rites of exorcism!

The Day 703 post over on THE 800 DAYS blog is full of information on this matter, even though it's one of Blake's average-to-short length posts. ie: training in Baltimore, how many Bishops and Priests are set to be trained as Exorcists, recruitment of the clergy for said position/responsibility, WOW...

No Guf, eh?

Serious stuff - the Catholic Church is NOT treating demons and evil spirits as if they're metaphors, symbolic, archetypes, make-believe entities...

Perhaps we should all take another look at our own perceptions of the concepts of demonic possession, spirits, esoteric rites, spirituality, oh WAIT....

That's what we've been DOING (from time to time) on the blogs already!

MY BAD...
Haha...

But seriously... In my opinion, we do need to examine the topic of exorcism and also - Church authority on this matter, the beliefs surrounding demonic possession, a number of other (I was going to say "a host of other...but) related issues and topics.

Frankly - WE DO NOT KNOW with any scientific certainty WHAT EXISTS beyond our five senses, 'cos we're trained to rely on just five senses, now, aren't we?

No matter what you think of any particular denomination or sect of Christian or Pagan religion, there are thousands of years of stories, statements, papers, essays and such on topics that science often pooh-poohs. As well, there are scholars in almost every religion who are good scholars and I think we should at least perform some critical thinking and a little research, ourselves, to become familiar with as yet unexplained topics.

Are demons simply a product of unstable minds?
Or are they dimensional beings?
Fallen angels?
Ancient beings from this world - or another?
Tulpas?

Honestly, I had a few personal friends jest when I sent the link to Blake's article - Ad Hominem statements against Catholicism were their most marked "reasons" for pooh-pooh-ing an article which says that Church scholars are taking an in-depth, serious look into demon possession cases and information - and formulating some defenses against demons and evil entities, "just in case."

To the pooh-pooh-ers, I ask...

What are you going to do if something negative and paranormal happens to you? Particularly if that unexplained thing is harmful in an outright way?

Day 710 (Tidbits)

I want to bring two important statements to the forefront that are on the Day 791 entry because I feel they appear too far down on THE 800 DAYS blog. You have to scroll down really far to see them, so here they are at the top of my post:

"Art is a gift of freedom.
It illuminates all who let it in."

And with these concepts in mind, get ready to be shocked once you head over to Blake's blog because your perception of Hollywood, Hollywood Stars, even "Talent" will change (hopefully) once you've ingested Blake's content.

Now, because Blake more than touches upon controversial personalities and the subject of "sex in Hollywood" and the big, four letter "P" word (starts with a P ends with an N), I'm not going to repeat the content here - besides, Blake has an awesome way of dealing with language related to these topics that I don't want anyone to miss.

To review and report on the content, what I will say is - YOU MUST READ IT - and afterward, RECONSIDER what resides in you as current belief about "Stardom," preferences in movies, the "Arts." It is clear that Blake provides a message that much of (almost all of) what we view and experience out of HollyWood-dom is NOT ART!

We are selecting this stuff as a general public, too...

That's all I want to say (because I feel a welling up of a shout coming on that wants to project the name CHOMSKY and the words "MANUFACTURED CONSENT...but alas, this shout is not artistic in any way, nor informative and is likely going to show up SOON in a non-tidbit post).

The Day 710 post is VERY IMPORTANT because it gives hints on WHY we have garbage media, television, movies, etc., all around us and it also contains some shocking things you likely don't know yet about "Stars" from Hollywood that are less than model citizens in society. And, oh yes - the Day 710 entry is associated with Monday January 10 2011.

Day 717 (Tidbits)

We're off.........

To see the Wizard...

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz - We hear he is a wiz of a wiz
If Ever a Wiz There Was...

Frank L. Baum wrote a very different version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz than what people are accustomed to, or have gotten used to, according to the film, Wizard of Oz. You know - the one with Judy Garland as Dorothy? Well - when the movie version was adapted from Baum's book, the movie writers, producers and others involved with the film managed to take away most of the political leanings originally embedded into the story by Baum.

The original story is very much about commerce, believe it or not - and on Blake's THE 800 DAYS BLOG, for the Day 717 entry, Blake has placed a really interesting video on this whole topic. The video is called "The Secret of Oz," and it's not just some little mishmash of historical clips, heresay and opinion. The makers of this vid have produced a full length documentary-movie that goes step by step through tidbits in history of the Western commerce system, primarily American economy - ie: the times when America was being settled, "founded," through alleged liberation from Britain, etc., with a focus on the economic system, currency and laws governing currency that was/were - AND IS/ARE - in the Western/North American realms.

The Secret of Oz film runs an hour and fifty minutes in length and isn't for the faint of heart. After watching, I've been prompted to go into excerpts of Baum's original work to see more on what Hollywood movie makers left out. It seems Baum was very in-tune to politics and such in his day - and there are countless symbolic bits inserted in his books that I think might have been best displayed to a general public all along and especially today. I say this because these bits are IMPORTANT events, truths, that - if they were known by all - would cause people to think about their role in society and country very differently than they do now. There are truthful insights as to how large political entities and authorities undermined a general public ever since the founding of America, Canada, etc that Baum was placing in literature for all to see. These are quite absent in the Hollywood film version of Wizard of Oz.

For viewing over at the 800 Days blog, I strongly suggest that you bookmark the Day 717 post, prepare some snacks and set aside time for viewing this The Secret of Oz video. It will be time well spent, in my humble opinion! Although you're not likely to get a feelgood kick from the documentary vid like you might from the Hollywood version, Wizard of Oz, I'm sure that if you watch and listen actively, you'll come away from this vid presentation with something of great value...

Day 724 (Tidbits)

Hey, be sure to read the Day 724 entry on Blake Hall's THE 800 DAYS blog right to the end, okay? There's an important message placed last on the post!

First a definition - so you'll understand the dedication of the poems Blake presents on Day 724...

TRIPTICH/Triptych:
  • art consisting of a painting on three panels - often an altarpiece with three panels hinged together
  • anything in three parts or leaves
  • a writing tablet in 3 parts, whereby 2 parts fold over the center/middle section

Hence, the poems, dedicated to Blake's friend Magnoliazz, are a set of three!

Now, since poems take a lot out of me (emotional connections) and I explicated a portion of poetry in the last post, I'm just going to chill today and let readers go interpret the Triptych pieces dedicated to Magnoliazz themselves. Once I am caught up with Blake to within a day or two behind his posts, I will definitely be delving back into all the poetry I missed commenting on...

A few tips before I go:

Triptych pieces are best read SLOWLY

       S     L     O     W     L     Y

Set aside time to break in between poems - however - not a break where you jump up, go grab a drink or lunch, do an errand, then come back to read the other pieces...

A break whereby you stop reading, let the first poem settle in, derive some meaning from it - then take a few breaths and prepare to shift perception for the next piece. There may or may not be (usually but not always) two neat segues, however, poems intended as triptychs will definitely connect as a whole once all three parts are read. Often one of the pieces within a triptych will not even be from the same narrator point of view, and the little break - two times - between content sets helps your mind stay very functional if there are extreme changes in points of view between poems.

Just thought I'd add some quick tips 'cos some people see a "set" of poems and get a bit intimidated by more than one poem at once...

Day 731 (Tidbits)

OH DEAR!

Blake Is Playing Match-Maker Now!

How awesome is this????

Okay, joking aside... (actually, not so much of a joke) Blake's DAY 731 entry on his THE 800 DAYS BLOG seems to be made with empathy in mind for those who might be alone or lonely as Christmas Day approaches.

Much of the world population will be celebrating with loved ones, family, friends, and in large social groups, but there are definitely those who are not, for whatever reasons, participating in large social functions concerning the Christmas celebrations. (Myth is one of those people, btw, so anyone else... you're not alone in your "lone-hood").

Just in case -- Blake has set up some links to social sites, even some dating sites. You won't have to worry about preferences, gender, race - he's got sites for any type of person to socialize on both through this holiday season and afterward. KUDOS!

Day 738 (Tidbits)

Dang - I love it when Blake finds a way to cuss artistically through a graphic image... Makes me feel like a prude 'cos I just cuss under my breath a lot or my cussing has to be in context...and used when I'm mad or... well anyway...

Basically, the Day 738 entry on Blake Hall's 800 DAYS Blog says, in a graphic way... "Screw The Government!"

And then it puts those hacktivist personas in a slightly better light than the average authorities have put them. All in context, of course, in light of the recent cyberattacks and DDoS attacks by "Anonymous."

I updated the Glossary to include the differences and definitions on "cyberpunk" and "cypherpunk" because they are, indeed, very different - even if the words look similar and sound very similar.

Now what Blake has gone and done is display Son of Gomez's "[...] THE ENTIRE FIRST ONLINE MANIFESTO [...]" of the CYPHERpunks which is outlined as follows:

The True Story of the Internet (parts I, II, and III)
  • Book 1: The Xenix Chainsaw Massacre
  • Book 2: WebWorld or The Mythical Circle of Eunichs
  • Book 3: InfoWar or The Final Frontier

Book 3 is unfinished because the author was arrested (1997) before he could finish it...

Okay, so I have to go finish reading the Son of Gomez works, to tell you the honest truth. I'm still playing catch-up but thought I'd better review Blake's post...I'll be back to post later on a review of the Son of Gomez material but I have to say... "YES!" I'm glad Blake posted in exactly this way 'cos I was fixing to track these documents down based on the past couple of 800 DAYS posts! *whew* Now I don't have to search very far...

Day 745 (Tidbits)

Yay! Another quick "Crash Course" on a dominant religion is on the Day 745 entry of THE 800 DAYS blog. This crash course is on Hanukkah, an 8 day Jewish holiday and celebration, sometimes called Festival of Lights or Festival of Dedication.

Blake goes on to give some historical and traditional information on this Jewish festival (which started, by the way, on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 this year. By the time of the 800DAYS blogpost, Hanukkah was under way for 6 days already.

I admit that I know very little about Jewish traditions and holidays, so I will be learning more by reading up on Blake's posts and having discussions with Blake and others about Hanukkah - as well as making sure to read much, much more about Hanukkah before next season. I will be better prepared next year to discuss and comment on such a topic.

The post on the 800 DAYS BLOG is quite lengthy with a lot of information, so I won't be able to supplement the content from here, based on my limited knowledge on Hanukkah. I'll just let readers head over to THE 800 DAYS blog and read.

The Day 745 post is associated with Monday December 6 2010 and the sixth day of Hanukkah in 2010.

Day 752 (Tidbits)

Ah, now Blake is really delving into some arcane details here. People who have already been looking outside of standard and traditional Christian religions will likely have heard of the topic Blake is talking about in the Day 752 post on THE 800 DAYS blog.

The Topic: The Emerald Tablet

Also known as the philosophy/principled works and beliefs of Hermes Trismegistus (Hermes the Thrice Greatest).

The works and associated teachings of Trismegistus have also been called "Secret of Secrets" and by a number of other titles. It seems this material was considered dangerous (probably still is) at an earlier time in ancient history. The works have been wrongly dated up until quite recently, so a while back many people believed these volumes of text to belong further into the past than they actually were. Most scholars today agree that The Emerald Tablet was mistakenly dated as having been written long, long before Christianity arose in the Western Civilizations and Western regions. Now, most authorities believe that these works are rightly dated as coming into existence just prior to Christianity and as a possible, probably precursor for the principles of the earliest Christianity.

Naturally, there are ongoing debates about the age of these texts that are probably a healthy way to question ANYTHING from our distant past, but generally, there are a LOT of tidbits that scholars from the fields of history, religion, sociology and more actually agree quite soundly on.

  • These texts are at the core of Hermetic Tradition
  • The Emerald Tablets complement or go together with a larger core set of documents called The Corpus Hermeticum (18 tracts or chapters/sections)
  • There are different sorts of denominations/groups with slightly differing viewpoints who followed and still do follow today, the Hermetic Tradition, each having variations of principles. In other words, Hermeticism is not dead... people still live by and practice these religious, ethical, practical and living principles.
  • Followers of Hermeticism study in the fields (whether we think this is outdated or not) of Alchemy, Astrology and Theurgy.
  • Alchemy: study of things related to or powered by the Sun
  • Astrology: study of things related to or powered by the Moon
  • Theurgy: study of things related to or powered by the Stars
  • In some respects and for some purposes, the details of astrology and theurgy are not separate from alchemy and in these situations, the study is simply known as alchemy or alchemical. ie: knowledge of the operation of the moon and stars might be used in certain alchemical routines or practices to gain a particular result or effect. In such cases, we wouldn't say, "that was an alchemy and astrology and theugy reaction," we'd just say "that process was one of alchemy" or something similar.
To me the Emerald Tablet of Trismegistus is pretty much like a condensed short guiding piece to sum up general principles of Hermetic Tradition, the combination of The Corpus Hermeticum and related works.

Go read the Emerald Tablet on Blake's Blog: Day 752 - The Emerald Tablet

If you're interested in learning more about the principles involved in the Hermetic Traditions, you can find The Corpus Hermeticum online:

About The Corpus Hermetica

Now if you get to busy to look at the longer works, don't worry... I'm just POSITIVE that The Corpus Hermeticum, along with The Emerald Tablet are topics and works that are going to show up repeatedly over the remainder of the 800 Days countdown. The Hermetic works really are some of the most interesting (AND USEFUL) collections of esoterica that are available to us. For now, The Emerald Tablet is a nice, concise piece of reading to pick up and apply accordingly.

Day 759 (Tidbits)

There is the most STRIKING picture of Mythbuster up on THE 800 DAYS BLOG for the Day 759 post, associated with the date Monday November 22, 2010. I'm extremely happy that - FINALLY - someone got a picture of me with my eyes open! I tend to blink too much (for some odd reason) when photos are being taken, adding the erroneous effects that I'm either stoned, asleep - or both - when really, I am neither! Yep, that's me alright...wide-eyed and serious over on the Day 759 post!

NICE TO MEET YOU!

I'm basically stumbling over thoughts and words right now because the Day 759 post hasn't got anything much to do with the finer details of The 800 Day Countdown... instead, it's about Blake writing about ME!

I am very honoured that Blake has taken the time for quite a lengthy post dedicated to MOI and the content I've put out online. THANK YOU BLAKE HALL! I'm very flattered!

HOWEVER...

Since I'm not sure how that picture of me got out so easily and got to circulating around, I figure I might as well COME OUT, myself, with a few other photos that might cause me some embarrassment if they get into the wrong hands and get posted online. I might as well just post them myself - along with the explanations I PREFER people to have... just - in - case!

Explanation:
First of all... I was a PREEMIE baby, so I'll just start with possible embarrassing photos right from birth. Now if you know ANYTHING about preemie babies - of course they're as precious as any other babies, but they just don't always look just right, okay? Obviously, I was very tiny - more than two months too soon, so I fit in the palm of the hand of anyone who picked me up immediately after I was born...

So here's a look at one of the first photo ever taken of me:
Told ya! Tiny, right?

NEXT

Explanation: okay, this picture isn't too embarrassing... it's after I managed to grow a bit and the docs figured out I had all my organs, toes, fingers and everything in the right place after all (I lived in the hospital for over a month 'til I was allowed to ever come home with my mom, my dad and my older sister).
Growing and finally able to suck a bottle properly...later on I sucked my thumb for a little too long ('til age 12) but maybe that was going to happen seeing as I was fed intraveneously for quite a while right after birth... it's the NEXT PHOTO that is super embarrassing for me...

Explanation: all my cousins, my older sis and some friends all ganged up on me, put me in this awful outfit then took pictures... HOW EMBARRASSING!
I WAS FORCED INTO THAT DRESS...it was SO UNFAIR -
look at the size of me? What could I do???
I was only about 3 years old!

Explanation: Your basic nekkid "blackmail" photos... I might as well just post 'em together...

AND

Okay, well that's enough... nekkid Mythbuster pics, not funny people!

Explanation: if I look very confused, looking at the computer screen, it's because this picture was taken several years ago when I was just learning how to operate a computer... Thank goodness I had some help learning how a computer works, otherwise I could have stayed hunched over that screen forever!!

And that's about all...
Thankfully, I have my "act together" in the photo that Blake found of me... and the photo over on The 800 Days blog looks a lot more like my current self and how people know me now...

Day 766 (Tidbits)

I really have enjoyed the Day 766 post on Blake Hall's THE 800 DAYS blog , although the information on this particular post, I expect, will be met with more than a few wails and arguments.

Essentially, Blake gives the space for this post to another author, bibi16. Consequently, bibi16 provides a number of interesting but strong arguments AGAINST many of the things it has become easy to believe in within our societies.

Right before bibi16's alloted space, Blake has positioned a video in place which shows the viewpoints of one of the most controversial performers of our age - Marilyn Manson. Now, no matter if you appreciate this performer's materials or not, there are loads of valid points he makes on this video. Intelligent statements, calmly stated...if you hate this performer... that's too bad 'cos you're going to miss some IMPORTANT MESSAGES if you skip this video just based on your prejudices!

Once bibi16's space is created, there are 5 major topics covered here:
  • evolution vs creationism OR evolution AND creationism (can't they exist side by side?)
  • religion versus science OR religion AND science (again, can't these two things exist side by side?)
  • hypocritical judgements people make in all sorts of topics
  • mankind's ego and tunnel vision about the universe and about life
  • people are people - genders are gendered but all genders are people

As already stated - I have really enjoyed the Day 766 post. I've taken care to ponder over what bibi16 has written and I believe that if many more of us consider these viewpoints, we can know ourselves better, treat others with more fairness and - mostly - stop our egos from getting the better of us - and others...

I'm going to stop writing now because what is on The 800 Days blog for Day 766 is worth real consideration - so I'll get quiet now.... time for thinking, not expressing...

Day 766 is associated with Monday November 15 2010 in the overall 800 Days Countdown.

Day 773 (Tidbits)

It's a good thing Blake offers some mixed kinds of points for pondering because several of the posts so far have been BIG ITEMS - controversial topics, important discussions and themes to think about. The Day 773 post on Blake Hall's 800 Days blog contains slightly lighter fare - although you should still put on your thinking cap before reading...

There are some fun things to think about on this post - is your dog an alien? I have a cat and I KNOW he's some sort of angel or better-than-human entity. Is the earth "alive"? Is there life out in "outer space"?

Interesting things to think about, for sure - or even study up on.

After more than a dozen blog entries with very serious content, Day 773's post is kind of refreshing without being boring or insignificant. Obviously I'm not going to repeat all the questions here that Blake asks within the Day 773 post on The 800 days blog. I'm just following along, adding a "thumbsup" here and - as always - asking readers from here to go visit the work that Blake is committed to over on The 800 Days blog.

Blake has been adding content diligently already for over a month - and I have been tuned in as a "follower" for the same length of time. Let me tell you one thing - this blog here HAS TO BE much easier to manage than Blake's 800 Days one. All I have to do is follow, read and comment... Blake has to decide what topics are pertinent for particular days, what content is going to be acceptable (we're using google space here - google doesn't always like controversy, eh?), how to make a countdown "flow..." Mostly - it's a HUGE time committment for making big decisions on content and also - for just showing up all the time...

Day 780 (Tidbits)

The date of November 1, 2010 is Day 780 or seven hundred and eighty days before the Mayan Calendar day count ends. This is a significant day for us because it is ALL SAINTS DAY. Also called "Day of the Dead," and this is primarily a pagan recognized day. This is the 21st day in the 800 Day countdown.

The 800 Days blog post contains a selected piece of music that Blake offers to friends and enemies alike - a song/performance considered a "traditional" song appropriate for sharing on the Day of the Dead.

The video is early in the post so that readers can listen to the song while reading the Day 780 text - and the content starts with some background information on the topics of "All Saints Day" and "Day of the Dead."

Now if you've been following Blake's writings for quite a while outside of the 800 Days blog, you may have come across some tidbits and details before that are in this blog post but - trust me - the post is worth reading IN FULL whether you've seen similar writings from Blake before or not... because if read with critical thinking and open-mindedness, the content here is going to be priceless, promoting a sense of tolerance, understanding of "the other," and general community mindedness that is so lacking in our world today.

Don't let certain terms catch you off guard or turn you aside from this information. Allow prejudices to melt away while you glean some knowledge here. YES there are CULTS mentioned here - along with religious groups... however, if you turn away from the information, aren't you just ensuring a certain level of personal and individual ignorance on a topic or theme that you dislike? Personally, I feel that within the writings so far on the 800 Days blog, an environment is being created which allows for tolerance, and which limits prejudice and ignorance as far as is possible.

In the article, you will find 30 paths of truth/cults of darkness.

Would you rather be intolerant - or INFORMED?

Day 787 (Tidbits)

Themes for Day 787 on Blake's The 800 Days blog are "Paganism" and "Patriotism" - primarily American patriotism.

The topic of discussion for this particular post is the Pagans to Rally for Religious Rights ceremonies that were held at The White House on July 4, 2007. This was a "first time" deal whereby many Pagan leaders of varied denominations gathered at Lafayette Square Park.

Requests:

  •  Pagan military chaplains to be recognized (besides Christian and other spiritual leaders of recognized faiths)
  • More Pagan symbols recognized and approved as significant within the Department of Veteran Affairs
  • Universal Freedom of Religious Expression
The post/article mentions several Reverends acting as spokespersons for varied denominations. I am unfamiliar with most of these personalities but am sure that many American readers will be familiar with the names and personas  mentioned  here.

Day 787 in the countdown is Monday October 25 2010.

Day 794 (Tidbits)

The 800 Day countdown has definitely warmed (or wound) right up within a relatively short number of posts on The 800 Days blog. I was wondering how long it would take for Blake to get into the topic of WitchCraft. Apparently the answer to my question has been answered in about 1 week of the countdown commencing!

Excellent!

If you identify as "Wiccan" or another "Craft" participant, you'll be able to refresh your memory on a few basic points of Wiccan/WitchCraft belief in the Day 794 post . This post includes a Doreen Valiente version of "The Charge Of The Goddess" as adapted by "Starhawk."

Links to several articles exist in this Day 794 post, including:

My favourite lines of The Charge of The Goddess are:
"[...] Let there be beauty and strength,
power and compassion, honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you [...]"

If you do not identify as Wiccan, as a Witch, or as Pagan, you are likely to still find the chants and articles very interesting. Just prepare yourself a little ahead of time - for open-mindedness - because thousands upon thousands of people worldwide adhere to Wiccan/Pagan beliefs and practices.

Some say that the various sects and denominations of Christendom and the practices of the same are simply practices and explanations structured atop "pagan" rituals, theories and philosophy. This will, no doubt, disturb many adamant and devout persons who identify as "Christian," but to my understanding, The 800 Days blog (and certainly THIS blog) is dedicated to voicing opinions and theories of all sorts, no matter what belief system is being displayed. I think it would be very short sighted and closed-minded to only read about and consider things already familiar to me and truly hope that readers will follow along regardless of what belief system they currently subscribe to.

The date of the Day 794 post is: Monday, October 18, 2010.
