Okay, at this point in following and reviewing Blake's THE 800 DAYS, I am tempted to ask Blake to go seek help and go to an A.C.A. Meeting - only that meeting would end up having 13 Steps, no doubt! A.C.A. would be "Aleister Crowley Anonymous" meetings! Ha! Just funnin' withya (and readers), Blake!
Blake seems to have a measure of respect (as do I) for Crowley, despite the fact that Crowley was and still is a much hated personality in recent history. If you've been reading from Blake's blog for any length of time, you'll be able to note that this is NOT the first (nor, I suspect, will it be the last) time Blake has written posts featuring Crowley quotes, biographical details on A. Crowley.
In the Day 692 weblog post, Blake takes some Crowley quotes out of context in a way I would never think to do but the result is something nearly morbidly and definitely spookily BANG ON regarding social commentary of our supposedly civilized societies. Blake the mighty blogger has taken Crowley's statements on viewpoints of gays/sexuality, and made them applicable for describing our real society's reaction or involvment in the topic of gays/sexuality...
Crowley quote: Part of the public horror of sexual irregularity so-called is due to the fact that everyone knows himself essentially guilty
Reality: sexual identity is a social construction whereby opposite sex relationships are rewarded in society while same-sex relationships are primarily shunned, if not banned altogether in many areas of the civilized world. Additionally, it is highly LIKELY that we all experience attractions, sometimes, to same-gender individuals but have been conditioned since early childhood to repress these feelings of attraction, deeming them "unhealthy," but mostly unwanted.
I won't go through all of the assertions and wording on Blake's blog as the above is just my interpretation, anyway - one I thought I would share to show the manner in which I am appreciating Blake's material located at the Day 692 post.
Some of the assertions/quote placings are wry, some are blatantly pointing fingers, but all are APT and enjoyable to read and will create "food for thought," not only about Crowley but also about the societies in which we live.

Day 721 (Tidbits)
Day 721 is alternately titled, "WWRJD?" (What Would Rick James Do?) lol I wanted an excuse to type that out, myself - so I just did!
There are some interesting tidbits that Blake has posted on Day 721 of his THE 800 DAYS blog. These are details about Google and IBM... thinkin' we should all keep an eye out for what is happening between those two computer industry GIANTS...
(Remember, I already said I'm going to switch to LINUX in 2011? Maybe what Google and IBM - and Apple and HP and Microsoft and a bunch of other GIANTS do won't be much of an issue for me)

Anyway - there are two very neat-o vids on the Day 721 post. The shows the BEST images of wolves and a tune I don't know the name to - but I'll get the vid transfered onto the Vid/Audio tab and double check the artist name and other details. I've hit "play" a couple of times already...
Some statements in the song with the vid of wolves are things I can identify with, like:
"I like to make myself believe
That planet earth turns slow-ly"
It's hard to say that I'd rather
Stay awake when I'm asleep
'cos everything is never as it seems [...]"
Hey - the lyrics are shown in the vid, btw... Nice.
The second video, I think it amazing in a way because it shows homeless people as real human beings. It's not a collection of clips of brown-bag-booze-bums and shyt like so many homelessness awareness commercials show. Of course, the vid is scripted to a certain extent but I love that the first images are of children with signs saying things like, "I am family" and "I am your son." I like that the children are featured later in the vid with signs like "I am thirsty/hungry," too.
Now don't take this the wrong way - but the image of children associated with homeless people is VERY APT, in my experience. In the same way that children require more capable people to care for them, so do homeless people require care and consideration. They have become homeless for a number of reasons - all of them - not just for a sole reason or from one or two factors in their lives getting out of control.
HOMELESSNESS IS A TRAUMA!
If the average person were forced to just become homeless for JUST ONE DAY as a test of some sort, the average person would have at least a minimally traumatizing experience (I do foot tours and take people around my city to role-play homelessness so they know how it feels. Most of my clients require a lot of stops, breaks and ask a lot of questions - they cry, feel guilty, feel oppressed, suffer identity glitches - even if my foot tour lasts only 1-2 hours)...
TRAUMATIZED PEOPLE REQUIRE UNCONDITIONAL RESOURCES AND SUPPORT
- not prejudice thrown at them and not suggestions about what faults they have that got them into homelessness. Also, throwing a traumatized person into jobs, housing, etc. too quickly or without the right supports means setting them up for pressure and failure. Being placed into a house (without the right supports) doesn't take care of the issue of trauma and the need for healing that happens if a person is homeless for more than TWO WEEKS!
It is even mortifying for some/most people to avoid homelessness by staying on a friends' couch for even as short a time as ONE WEEK... and if you've ever even stayed with relatives for a vacaion period in a home not your own, you've likely experiences some discomforts and disorientation doing something famaily oriented - so just keep stuff like this in mind, if you can, throughout 2011. As Blake mentions in his post, "Home is not something to be taken for granted...even if you have one."
If you're currently housed, I sure hope you can stay that way throughout the entirety of this New Year 2011. If you're currently housed and have extra things of any kind - even it its just extra time to go hug someone less fortunate than yourself - please share what you have that you don't need and refrain from hoarding resources of any kind... A smile is an awesome resources that everyone can give away for FREE.
The 800 Days blog also has a backtrack meant for a few days ago about Kwanzaa Traditions, which are Pagan celebrations related to the abundance of the last seasons' crops. I think this article is really a good end to a post with homelessness content on it because it's about celebrating over and sharing what you've got currently in your possession...and in Kwanzaa traditions, no discriminations are present over one person having a little less of a crop than another.

Day 739 (Tidbits)
And we return to a recent and pertinent topic - Cyberwars... Well, some are calling what's going on "Info Wars" and others are using the new-fangled term "Cyberwars," but regardless, SOMETHING is going on out in cyberspace with information and transmitting electronic data!
Apparently an arrest was made concerning the December 9th (2010) incident...a 16 year old (from The Hague) was taken into custody and seized his computer equipment for investigations after electronic attempts to mess with the Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, and Swedish government websites. The teen confessed to being involved with an organized, large scale DDoS attack aimed at said websites...The Swedish government issued a warrant (International!) against alleged sex offenses against WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange...
Do you think this sounds like Science Fiction or movie plot fare?
Well, it's not...
Apparently, the hacker group who initiated the cyber attacks against major institutions is known as Anonymous and is campaigning in a serious, electronic, noticeable way - on the side of "Freedom of Speech." Anonymous is impressive, TO ME, because they have EFFECTIVELY campaigned and acted in what can be considered a non-aggressive way. This group has not planned or caused any bodily harm to anyone, and this group of hacktivist individuals has used no traditional weapons to cause harm to anyone, HOWEVER, people need to take ANONYMOUS seriously...because Anonymous has already shown the ability and motivation to do things on the behalf of a general public that we used to only see in movies, read in books, view in the arts...

Day 743 (Tidbits)
The TIDBITS being discussed on THE 800 DAYS BLOG for the DAY 743 entry center around cereals and particularly, around a most unusual figure...

COUNT CHOCULA!!!
Okay - just kidding... Blake just mentions that "Anyone can say they know the general truth...And who can say that their cheerios are better than my count chocula[...?]"
Blake gets on the concept of perspective - and truth - and touches upon the difficulty we (general humankind) have in determining what truth really is, amongst a host of diverse peoples and perspectives. Personally, I think I "GET" what Blake is putting forth here: [who are WE to determine someone else's truth?]
As Blake gets into some descriptions of "Relative Truth" versus "Absolute Truth," I actually wanted to get a pencil and paper out and sort through a few things... but like the conclusion to his post, when I did get a pencil and paper out and wrote a few things down, things cleared up about like pouring milk into water and tryin' to see the truthful pan at the bottom... things got obscure - and I had to conclude, myself, that I have no right to absolutely determine another person's perspective or truth. I can, however, ask from persons close to me - that they choose something as their truth only that which harms no one else...but that's about it. I can't ask that others believe in the intricately detailed concepts, word for word or step per step and concept connection for connection that I believe in...

I understand Count Chocula a whole lot better than I understand all the societal norms, dominant ideologies, etc., ideas that people collectively believe in - big ideas about systems, religions, governments, etc...and I think this is the mud that Blake is getting at, too...
I think we may have to agree to be different instead of agreeing to hold all the same truths. Maybe that is what Blake is also getting at...

Day 746 (Tidbits)
Man, I almost hate it when Blake writes on/brings out topics involving harm to animals. I have a soft spot for animals and actually you might call it more of a "reverence" and awe-filled respect for most of them (Remember my rescue cat? Best pet ever!).
Blake's Day 746 entry on THE 800 DAYS BLOG is about life harmed by man-made catastrophes. I want to quit using the word "CATASTROPHE," too because I have a reverence for NATURE and catastrophes happen in nature. Man Made DISASTERS happen when mankind destroys or makes objects and situations which destroy life. Human life, animal and plant life, spiritual feelings/life... Man (okay, and WOman) is the WORST destroyer of all and, frankly, reading about
manmadedisastersmakesmeveryangrygrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

...particularly after looking at the pictures of beautiful animals on The 800 Days blog, reading the stats on how much LIFE has been affected by oil spills - sometimes by "singular" events.
The content is about the possibility of EXTINCTION OF MULTIPLE SPECIES as a result of man made GARBAGE and INDUSTRY... also, human error leading to preventable accidents.
One concept most of the world probably adheres to THAT I WILL NOT is the concept of land ownership and regional boundaries - ie: nationalism and related concepts.
I don't understand how people can believe in the concept of the earth/world as having places where people OWN sections of land, air, sea...
MAPS are TEMPORAL GUIDELINES and navigational tools but authorities use these items to prove OWNERSHIP and authority over spaces that we're supposed to all have reverence and respect for, that we will all benefit much more from by NURTURING AND SHARING TOGETHER...
Consequently OWNERSHIP and POSSESSION of significant spaces and locations on this globe is a TEMPORAL CONCEPT, not a norm, law, fact.
Strangely enough - even when, BY MUTUAL AND MANUFACTURED CONSENT, the world's citizens allow for sections of the globe to be utilized by certain businesses and individuals, when a DISASTER HAPPENS, we find out that, really - NOBODY CAN OWN ANYTHING... we get lack of accountability, and vast areas of polluted, disrespected land, sea and air, that nobody CAN REALLY BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR...because nobody can truly own a place or space to the exclusion of all others, anyway.
I am ranting...

Day 749 (Tidbits)
Here is the question again...
Is December 21 2012 going to be our last day?
The Day 749 post on THE 800 DAYS blog asks the question in a slightly different way:

For this article and blog post, Blake mentions the topic of Y2K, the Mayan Long Count Calendar as well as the Roman Calendar, the sundial, waterclock and dung beetle. Also mentioned are Kino, Cortez and Ponce de Leon and "The Codex" which was handled by the aforemetioned historical people.
What you'll be reading on The 800 Days blog is an opinionated post - this much is true - but it is opinion backed by the author's strong arguments and knowledge of various documents and study of religious texts, ancient cultures, certain historical personalities and more.
In my humble opinion, the call to action here is to PAY ATTENTION to the prophecies - learn about them, but also take note of where these prophecies come from, who may have touched and altered ancient source documents, etc.
Most interesting...it seems Blake has a prophet of sorts in his family lineage (A Navajo tribal elder). Blake was offered some wisdown in a conversation with the elder quite some time ago. I leave it to you to go to THE 800 DAYS blog and see the message Blake relates from his elder...

Day 760 (Tidbits)

There are definitely some unrelated tidbits put together for this post but don't worry... they're all enjoyable anyway.
I got SUCKED IN BY BLAKE... *LOL*
There's a text/image "loop" application of some sort right at the beginning of the post... I WATCHED/READ IT ALL TWICE haha! You might, too... btw, the "Action Jackson" font IS pretty cool, so look for it!
On a more serious note, Blake continues outlining and presenting some messages from a personality we've seen on two other posts already - "EDEN SKY." In an audio presented on the 800 DAYS blog, Eden Sky endorses and speaks about "The Universal Flag." The link provides Brian McClure interviewing Eden Sky on the topic of The Universal Flag and the concept behind this is that this flag transcends borders, race, etc. This audio is "Show 89: A Conversation With Eden Sky" from August 28, 2010. Much of the content should interest almost any person who can manage to find this recording... it's on very important information about "TIME," along with The Universal Flag.
I have a special interest in "TIME" because I've been studying about how humankind has manipulated time over the centuries...and I've been studying this topic of time in a multidisciplinary way - for about three years. A great book I've read more than once and that I keep close at hand AT ALL TIMES is Jeremy Rifkin's "Time Wars." If you can find this book, read it! You will NEVER look upon a sundial, clock or digital timekeeper of any kind in the same way after reading the Rifkin material... You will never think of the work week, the workday or things of this nature in the same way ever again... You will also likely want to learn more about "circadian rhythm" too, but...hey, I'm going too far here and getting off topic!
In short, I have found that Eden Sky's information is NOT in any way challenging to Rifkin's material or material studied on historical time-keepers and time-setters (like St. Benedict of Nursia)... and am quite happy to have come across the McClure/Sky interview!
Aside from the audio material available via The 800 Days blog, the Day 760 post also contains some fantastic images!
Then once you scroll down past some images - after careful observations, of course, then BINGO! On a more serious note, Blake continues outlining and presenting some messages from a personality we've seen on two other posts already - "EDEN SKY." In an audio presented on the 800 DAYS blog, Eden Sky endorses and speaks about "The Universal Flag." The link provides Brian McClure interviewing Eden Sky on the topic of The Universal Flag and the concept behind this is that this flag transcends borders, race, etc. This audio is "Show 89: A Conversation With Eden Sky" from August 28, 2010. Much of the content should interest almost any person who can manage to find this recording... it's on very important information about "TIME," along with The Universal Flag.
I have a special interest in "TIME" because I've been studying about how humankind has manipulated time over the centuries...and I've been studying this topic of time in a multidisciplinary way - for about three years. A great book I've read more than once and that I keep close at hand AT ALL TIMES is Jeremy Rifkin's "Time Wars." If you can find this book, read it! You will NEVER look upon a sundial, clock or digital timekeeper of any kind in the same way after reading the Rifkin material... You will never think of the work week, the workday or things of this nature in the same way ever again... You will also likely want to learn more about "circadian rhythm" too, but...hey, I'm going too far here and getting off topic!
In short, I have found that Eden Sky's information is NOT in any way challenging to Rifkin's material or material studied on historical time-keepers and time-setters (like St. Benedict of Nursia)... and am quite happy to have come across the McClure/Sky interview!

Day 765 (Tidbits)
Getting back to "tidbits" and review type posting on the follower blog here. Now I know I am behind, 'cos I typically stay a few days behind Blake's posted material, and in doing so I am a little off on celebration days. I think of it this way - I learn as I go so although I was aware of certain celebrations, writing about them a few days off keeps me in mind of them for longer and I don't see that as a negative!
A celebrated topic/observance on THE 800 DAYS BLOG for the Day 765 post on Tuesday November 16 2010, was "Eid Al-Adha."
Eid Al-Adha isn't something that I personally have celebrated in the past but is something I have become more interested in just in the past few years. Eid Al-Adha is a Muslim religious holiday and festival whereby Muslims celebrate Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Ishmael, his son, as an act of obedience to God. Now, God intervened, according to traditions, legend and myth - and provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice instead of doing so with Ishmael, so this holiday and festival is known also as the "Festival of Sacrifice" or the "Greater Eid."
As stated earlier and above, this isn't a festival I have been familiar with celebrating in my personal life. Luckily, I have learned more about this festival via contact with Blake, his writings and through searching around online to learn about Muslim traditions. Even though I do not identify primarily as a Muslim, myself, I believe that any culture's or peoples' traditional days have importance in the world...a belief I have only picked up in the past few years - so I think it is an act of reverence to start learning about things another culture's people feel are of tantamount and religious importance. I will be taking more care in years to come from this year forward - and start to honour other days/festivals that are important even if I do not adhere to all unfamiliar traditions outside of my own belief system.
I am learning that we can only "other" people, place prejudices against, act out against other people if we continue to ignore their ways and beliefs and then oppress these beliefs and people. We may not always be able to adhere to every belief foreign to our upbringing but I can't imagine it can be wrong to learn more or honour the beliefs of another culture... so I will not be missing Eid Al-Adha anymore in the future. Thankfully, Blake has placed the explanation on how the days of Eid Al-Adha are determined with Muslims and also has next year's days of celebration posted on the Day 765 entry on the 800 Days blog.

Naturally, because there are quite rigid rules surrounding days of reverence for Muslims during Eid Al-Adha, I cannot participate fully - but I will make special prayers in my own faith during the next Eid Al-Adha which will contain wishes that others honour the elaborate, reverent celebration of the Muslims regardless of affiliation with other religions and cultures. For example, according to Muslim traditions, I would not be allowed to be in a position during Eid Al-Adha to "sacrifice" a ram or acceptable sacrificial animal - because I am not Muslim myself. When involved in these days of reverence, it must be that great care and mindfulness is employed for many hours of the day and for several days on end... this attention to personal relationships with God/Allah, to human relationships with the Earth and on humans together with humans should be more widely known and accepted in my opinion. These considerations are what I intend to project and experience next November! Until then, I will be learning more about the Muslim traditions.

Day 768 (Tidbits)
Crash course happenin' now on THE 800 DAYS blog for a wonderful Day 768 post!
Wait a sec' - let me announce this in a more official way so people sit up and NOTICE!
Okay but seriously...
There's some decent information for people who want to know just a smidgen about Paganism and it's on the Day 768 post of The 800 Days blog...
What you'll find:
Perhaps people who believe the world is going to go through a transition in December 2012 will gather together in open spaces and around significant bodies of water...and wait for the whole darn transition to unfold. If those electrical bits of nature touch down - MAN, I would get the heck away from that water!
As you can probably tell, my knowledge of visual art is pretty sketchy and my ability to put visual aspects into similarly effective words is lacking flair... I don't know what it is about that picture that catches my eye so much but - IT ROCKS!
Obviously, in reviewing the post, I should just stick to words and leave off the commentary about visual stuff. The main content of the post is about Modern Pagan Movements and Blake has done a nice job of outlining what four main movements/traditions can be considered as such today. I like the brief explanation of Discordianism/Nihilism but admit these terms/the traditions are something I need to look more closely at. The only thing I understand well about discordianism is the concept of dissent...but I hope (I know) Blake will be offering more details on Discordianism in the days to come so that I can have a more rounded picture of this Pagan tradition.
